Happy New Year! Better late than never, right! And the first two months of the new year have brought some big buzz: Second Wind's eponymous debut CD is ready to receive its accolades. To facilitate that, the Release Party will be taking place at Hugh's Room on Sunday, April 11th. The doors will open for lunch at noon, and the music will start an hour afterwards at 1:00. If you wish to make reservations, please do so through Hugh's Room, linked above. In case you haven't heard Second Wind yet (and by the way, how's that rock you're living under holding up?), I'll be loading a sampler clip of their CD on to this very page sometime soon. In the meantime, you can check out their Myspace page to get acquainted.

About time another update came about and there's quite a bit to say, so I'll dive right in.
-First of all, Second Wind have almost finished work on their first CD - just bass and percussion remain to be tracked. E-mail Wendi if you'd like to be put on the mailing list for news concerning the album or to reserve a copy.
-Second Wind are also playing at this year's Roncesvalles Polish Festival in Toronto. Specifically, they will be appearing on the John Gora stage on Saturday, September 13, at 2:00 pm, and again at 5:00 pm. If chance should happen you miss out on those two, you'll have two more chances to catch them on the same stage the next day (the 14th, fancy that) at 12:00 and 3:15 pm. And there's plenty to enjoy besides the music. Come on out!
-Wendi herself and Second Wind as a whole are available for house parties and corporate gigs at present. Drop us a line if your shindig needs gracing with their presence.
-Recently, Wendi, Neil Sharpe, Hugh and myself played a house party gig for an enthusiastic Brampton Choral Society. The party host asked for a Weavers and 60's package of music, and I daresay we managed to impress. It was a warm fuzzy feeling to have every member of the audience singing along so energetically. Our thanks to you.
-Last but certainly not least, Wendi and Hugh will be opening Rockwood's first folk music supply store, hopefully sometime in September. We'll be at 122 Main St selling instruments, instrument accessories, indie music and artwork, and more. The store, to be called "Music In The Wood", will soon have its own website here. We'll keep you posted on its progress. And we promise we'll give you more frequent updates to satisfy your information cravings. Bye for now.

I've come out of hibernation (read: post-secondary education) long enough
to give you the latest goods. First and foremost, the latest incarnation of
Songs for Hope willtake place on May 10th, and for now that's all we can tell
you about it. Anymore would compromise our agents in the field. And because
it's been at least an aeon since we gave you something new to look at, here's
a juicy new promo image from Second Wind. Keep on eye on us here, you die-hard
watchers; there'll be more updates soon.

On August 23 at 7:30 PM, Wendi and Second Wind will be playing in the
Plein Air Garden Concert. The garden implied in the previous sentence is located
at 345 Balliol St. in Toronto. The website for this undertaking can be found
at www.artistsgardencoop.com.
We hope to see you there. There are some new promotional pictures for the
event to be perused in the media section. Yep, the place certainly does look
garden-esque.
And by the way, happy belated Canada/Independance Day.

Hello again. We're not dead. Now that the important stuff is out of the
way, Second Wind (Wendi's vocally-based band) will be playing at Riverfest,
whose website can be found here.
By the way, Songs For Hope VIII was our best yet. We have now raised $20,000
for use in cancer research. We would like to thank all the artists and volunteers
for contributing their talents, and the audience for stopping by and making
the thing worth doing. Because of this and the fact that you went another
month without word from us, you deserve a reward. Therefore, I will now no
longer sneer disdainfully at you when you call me Matt, Max, or heaven forbid,
Mike. This is a limited time offer, so I advise you to exploit it to the fullest.
Please note that the Songs For Hope site link is now no longer operational.
'Tah.

Yeah, we're sorry for making you wait through four months without a single
update, but here's something to compensate: the Songs For Hope webpage is
making its official launch on the coming Monday, and will provide all the
information you need to get some tickets without having to gouge anyone's
eyes out for 'em. See you then.

Sunday, December 3, 2005-
Hello again, ye faithful web-voyagers. The release party was a blast.
We cannot express how much we appreciate the presence of all those who attended.
To all who couldn't make it out, yeah, you missed quite a bit. But the new
pictures in the Media section ought to make up for some of the loss. Just
don't let it happen again, lest I am forced to bombard your respective dwellings
with bits of nuclear brie.
In other news, Acoustic Traditions
in Orangeville are now selling "How Can I Keep From Singing" for us at $20/CD.
That's quite nice of them, isn't it? Check 'em out when you get a moment.

At long last, the site is up and ready to inspire awe in the hearts of
the mighty! Notice all those buttons on the side? As far as I know, they all
work, so use them; HTML doesn't wear out easily.
Now, on to business: the official release of the CD, entitled "How Can I Keep
From Singing?" will take place on November 27 at 2:00 PM at the respectable
establishment known as the Shepherd's Crook in Georgetown. If you don't know
the way, there is a link to a map placed at the bottom of this post which
should help in guiding you to the place. Bring an instrument, if you like.
After an hour or so of songs from the CD and a couple of guest artists, we
hope to have a bit of a jam (although we don't intend to go into the supper
hour). See you at the show!
Come
to the Angel of Music...with a map!
